Ana,
I agree with the student who requested that you write the lessons in English or at least give the interpretation. Otherwise how do we know if we are interpreting it correctly. Reading a passage in Spanish is not a challenge for me because you can pronounce a word even if you don\’t understand it. Straight reading is a lot different than trying to interpret a new concept in a foreign language, especially when it\’s not \"live\". In otherwords, there\’s no teacher to explain or help you grasp the meaning. Even though I\’m at the intermediate level, I feel that lessons written entirely in Spanish without the benefit of interpretation are for advanced level students.
Hi Marketta and Oliver, some of the next lessons will be in English. However, remember that while it can be useful to have lessons in English, in the long run you will get much more out of lessons that are in Spanish no matter if you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced. The fact that you have to figure out certain things that you don’t understand in Spanish, looks up words you don’t know, interpret what the lesson is trying to say all will greatly improve your Spanish skills in the long run.
Cheers!
Anna
Dear Anna,
Initially I agreed with the student who wrote “en ingles, por favor.” I just returned from Guatemala and my teacher who was excelente advised exactly as you have. I felt uncomfortable speaking with others in Spanish primarily because they were more advanced than I. But the more I speak and read, the more literate I become. It can be uncomfortable but every one seems to be willing to correct and help me when speaking in Spanish. Additionally, I am forced to keep a dictionary by my side and look up words and grammar of which I may be unfamiliar. Excellent advise!!!
Prefiero leer las lecciones sin ingles. El mejor modo de aprender un idioma es la inmersión.
Si alguien tiene un problema, es fácil consultar aqui.
Gracias por tu cometario Pierre. Saludos,
Anna
Gracias Luci, hoy he posteado un artículo en español y en inglés. Saludos,
Anna
I agree, I would much rather have discussions in spanish… I remember more if I have to go find the english translation rathar than having it given.
