Para dar consejos o recomendaciones podemos usar diferentes tiempos o estructuras
- Se puede usar Tener + Que + Infinitivo, de manera amigable: “Tenés que aprender español”.
- Se puede usar Condicional Simple: “Yo que vos aprendería español”, ó “deberías aprender español”
- Imperativo: “Aprendé español”.
- Se puede usar Te recomiendo + Infinitivo: “Te recomiendo aprender español”.
- Se puede usar también el Subjuntivo Presente: Te recomiendo que estudies español/ Te aconsejo que estudies español/ Te sugiero que estudies español.

Te recomiendo que te duches y que te pongas ropa formal. Aunque quienes te llamaron tengan tu c.v, yo que vos llevaría uno impreso por si acaso. Es importante que te mantengas tranquilo y te sugiero mirar a los ojos de tu interlocutor. Tenés que llegar puntual (on time), es mejor no hacer esperar a quien te puede dar tu próximo empleo. Mostrate muy interesado en el trabajo y no hagas muchas preguntas antes de que el entrevistador termine de explicarte. Te aconsejo preguntar por el salario al final y entonces hacer todas las preguntas pertinentes. Te sugiero que destaques aquellos trabajos pasados que te puedan servir para el trabajo actual. Además, es importante que resaltes tus motivaciones y características personales afines al ámbito laboral.

What does ‘yo que vos’ mean? I have not seen that before .. it looks like “Yo que vos aprendería español” = I that you would learn spanish. Is it an Argentinian expression?
Hi Mariposa, ” yo que vos” means “If i were you” it is informal, it is not only used in Argentina, but the formal expression would be “Si yo fuera vos” with imperfect subjuntive.

In your second example, you say Se puede usar Condicional Simple: “Yo que vos aprendería español”, ó “deberías aprender español.” I understand “deberías aprender español” (you should learn Spanish) but I don’t understand “Yo que vos aprendería español.” Are there words missing? Literally, it seems to mean “I that would learn Spanish to you,” which makes no sense in English. I’d love an explanation.
Is the use of tenes and Argentine custom. I have inly seen it in your writings.
Hi Richard, the use of “Vos” is for the Rio de la Plata zone. But, you can say “yo en tu lugar”, there are differents ways to say the same….how i say, is informal, but you will be understandend everywhere. Cheers!

“Yo que vos” is an informal way of saying “if I were you.” So “Yo que vos aprendería español” means “if I were you, I would learn spanish.”

I’d prefer if u’d start with a more basic level. Since I am not at all familiar with Spanish and I don’t even have anybody around me who can converse wid me in this language.
